It's Peanut Butter Jelly Time...
What better way for filmmakers to dish out their ideas for new films than over a classic PB&J?
This past week, we hosted an open community mixer for students from around campus to gather, socialize and brainstorm ideas for possible film submissions — all while enjoying complimentary peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Directors, producers, writers, and some who were even a combination of all three, conversed on various topics and ways to collaborate with one another to gear up for this year's third annual festival.
Those in attendance were also given the opportunity to tour UA's new Digital Media Center, located in the home of Alabama Football: Bryant-Denny Stadium. Opening earlier this year in March, the state-of-the-art facility spans 46,594 square feet and contains three television studios, three television control rooms, four radio studios and 10 television edit suites.
A great time was had by all, but the evening was only just the beginning. We want you! Be part of this year's festival experience and let us showcase your work.
Our call for submissions is currently open, and filmmakers can submit their work through January 15th via our website. Undergraduate and graduate students from universities across the South are welcome to submit and can find out more about our specific guidelines there. Film genres range from narrative, documentary and experimental films to music videos and animated shorts — show us what you've got! In the meantime, watch our promo video to get excited for February. Happy filmmaking, everyone!
